Apart from the needless job abandonment orchestrated by the outgoing administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke that spanned over one year cumulatively, the Osun State judiciary is receiving its own dosage of misgovernment, misplaced priority and crass exhibition of ineptitude from the incumbent government in the state.
Information has it that unthinkable happenings have been the lots of some of the judicial officers who are manning the state high courts in some of the towns outside Osogbo, the state capital, as circumstances have forced them to relocate to the state capital in order for them to safe their lives.
It was gathered that some of the high court buildings outside the state capital are dilapidated, showing signs of imminent collapse and visibly unfit for human habitation which is the reason the affected judicial officers have run for their dear lives.
Information also has it that the situation is not different in the various magistrate's courts in the state as the presiding magistrates in the courts have been operating under a pathetic condition which ideally should be conducive to the dispensation of justice delivery.
Both the judicial officers, magistrates, legal practitioners, litigants, judicial workers' and members of the public have been discussing the anomaly in the various courts in the state in hushed tones, lamenting the plight of the judiciary under the administration of Governor Adeleke.
The plight of the courts in the state is an eye sore which any responsible and responsive government would have taken time to address frontally more so when Governor Adeleke was a beneficiary of the judiciary in the 2022 governorship election whereby the apex court in the country pronounced him as the winner of the election.
The embattled Governor Adeleke has no excuse for abandoning the courts in the state since his inauguration over three years ago whereby he has been prioritising the construction of needless flyovers which the reason could only be for pecuniary gains as rehabilitation of courts could not fetch much targeted gratifications.
When the political history of the state shall be told after the expiration of the uneventful tenure of Governor Adeleke in November, it is not an hyperbolic expression to observe and conclude that the place of the puppet governor shall be the dustbin of history as he has recorded abysmal failure in this vital area of governance.
It is wicked and balderdash for Governor Adeleke to be taking the judicial officers and the magistrates for a ride simply because he is aware that the oath of office they signed would not allow them to complain publicly in order not to mischievously label them as members of the opposition.
It is however, worthwhile to assure the judicial officers, magistrates and other stakeholders in the judiciary in the state that there's a respite for them when the All Progressives Congress(APC) governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji AMBO, assumes office through the forthcoming 15th August, 2026 election, he would bring a new lease of life to them without further delay.
