The Olowu of owu kuta,Oba Oyelude Makama wants political actors to play the game according to the rules and desist from acts capable of causing crisis before, during and after the forthcoming August 15th governorship Election in Osun state.
Oba Makama who stated while speaking with IDTV Crew at his palace in Kuta said election should always be seen as vital component of democracy rather than a period for hooliganism and mayhem.
The monarch noted that traditional rulers Should not be partisan ,saying they are fathers to all political gladiators and they must maintain their neutrality in the forthcoming Election in the state.
Oba Makama who canvassed constitutional roles for traditional rulers,said traditional institution should be recognized for constitutional roles to further cement their position as natural leaders who had better understanding of the needs and yarnings of their subjects.
He maintained that traditional rulers weidered a lot of influence in their community and they should be given special recognition for them to further consummate their authority.
Oba Makama called on the presidency to sponsor a bill in that direction and make it part of constitutional review to strengthen the nation's democratic governance.
The monarch who decried the attitude of some traditional rulers to the traditions and cultural beliefs of their communities saying anybody who loss his culture and traditions lost his identity hence the need for traditional rulers to always promote culture of his community.
He said the two imported religion did not negate Yoruba culture and traditions as some advanced countries of the world also preserve their culture and trad atitions for posterity.
Oba Makama however faulted the recruitment process of traditional rulers in the recent time ,noting that a traditional ruler must be somebody who understands the history, culture and traditions of his community.
The monarch urged Public office holders to stop their undue interference in the selection and appointments of monarch as he posited that their interference had negatively produced unfit and uncultured traditional rulers.
