The visit was aimed at strengthening the existing relationship between the Nigeria Police Force and the NCCSALW, as well as exploring further areas of collaboration towards the effective discharge of their respective constitutional and statutory responsibilities.

Speaking during the visit, the Zonal Director, CP Alamutu Abiodun Mustapha, psc (Rtd.), emphasised the importance of achieving the core mandate of the NCCSALW, particularly in addressing the proliferation and illicit circulation of small arms and light weapons. He noted that the task could not be successfully achieved in isolation, but required sustained collaboration and synergy with the Nigeria Police Force and other relevant security agencies.

In his remarks, the AIG expressed delight at receiving the team, particularly the Zonal Director, whom he described as a brother and a very close former colleague in the Nigeria Police Force before his retirement and subsequent appointment with the NCCSALW.

AIG Ewah stressed that the primary responsibilities of the Nigeria Police Force could not be effectively achieved in isolation, noting that collaboration with relevant agencies such as the NCCSALW remained critical to maintaining law and order, curbing the proliferation of illicit arms and weapons, and ensuring the safety and security of the society.

The AIG assured the delegation that the existing relationship between the two institutions would be renewed, strengthened and sustained for the common good. He further expressed optimism that the enhanced collaboration would contribute significantly to maintaining a peaceful and secure environment, particularly ahead of the forthcoming gubernatorial election.

The Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Administration, DCP Jayeoba Idowu Joseph, in a robust vote of thanks, appreciated the NCCSALW delegation for deeming it fit to visit the Zone and further consolidate its partnership with the Nigeria Police Force. He assured the delegation of the Zone’s optimum support and cooperation whenever necessary.
