Osun State governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke says University of Ilesa has taken its rightful place within Nigerian University system.
Governor Ademola Adeleke stated this in Ilesa while commissioning six different projects at the University of Ilesa, declaring that he has fulfilled his electoral promises on the actualisation of the University.
He commended the management of the institution for its resilience and commitment towards making the University one of the fastest growing university in Nigeria,saying the feat was made through outstanding leadership quality of the management team of the ivory tower.
Governor Adeleke reaffirmed his commitment to the promotion of welfare of workers in the state ,noting that his administration implemented the conversion of all temporary and contract staff of the defunct College to permanent and pensionable staff and equally paid all outstanding allowances owed by the Management of the defunct College.
He said his government had approved and implemented new university salary structures for the University including payment of arrears half salaries owed to workers in Osun State as well as the release of withheld cooperative and other deductions.
In his welcome address ,The Vice chancellor of the University, Professor Olufemi Ashaolu expressed gratitude to the governor for his commitment for the actualisation of the University, declaring that in just three years,UNILESA has grown from a vision to a thriving academic community of 12 Faculties, one College of Health Sciences, 110 Academic Programmes with over 15,000 students.
Professor Ashaolu said the remarkable growth witnessed in the University had positively impacted on the socio- economic fortunes of the host communities and Osun State at large.
The Vice chancellor noted that the projects for commissioning by the governor include the remodeled Faculty of Law Annex Building, the remodeled Faculty of Public Health building, reconstructed Internal road network, the new hostel buildings, the female medical hostel; and the Faculty of Basic Clinical Sciences.
In his remak,The Chairman of governing Council, University of Ilesa,Hon Gbenga Onigbogi lauded Governor Adeleke for his support twords the growth and development of the University while informing the governor about the support and contributions of well meaning Ijesa sons and daughters to the University.
Hon Onigbogi said the support of well meaning ijesa's had assisted the University to attain high level of growth within three years of its existence and promised that Ijesaland would sustain the feat untill the university of Ilesa becomes international reputable Ivory tower.
