Osun State government will complete ongoing rehabilitation of Osun groove road before this year Osun Osogbo celebration to fastrack ease of movement during the annual celebration.
Osun State Commissioner for culture and tourism, Hon Abiodun Bankole Ojo stated this during an assessment visit to the site of the ongoing rehabilitation work.
Speaking with IDTV,Hon Ojo popularly known as Fafa ,said the rehabilitation had become imperative so as to facelift the Osun groove environment and make it more attractive to both local and international tourists,as the groove had been enlisted as the UNESCO heritage site.
He said the road which had been in state of disrepair for over two decades would be facelift in the first phase before the festival and total rehabilitation would commence after the celebration.
Hon Ojo noted that the present administration in the state was committed to promotion of the state cultural potential for economic growth and wealth generation.
The Commissioner emphasized the need for preservation of culture and traditions,saying any race which lose its culture loss its identity and promised that the present administration in the state had succeeded in positioning the state for cultural development through its support to traditional festivals in the state.
He called on culture promoters to partner government in its drive to make the state the most attractive destination for tourists in the country and equally open window of economic endowment in culture sector to enhance economic and industrial growth of the state.
Speaking on the August 15th governorship Election in the state,The commissioner urged electorate to troupe out in their thousands and vote for Accord party candidate, Governor Ademola Adeleke,saying they should not be scared or intimidated by the tension building up by the opposition to scare voters.
Hon Ojo expressed confidence that the people of Osun State were strongly behind governor Adeleke second term bid ,noting that no amount of provocation, intimidation and harassment could stop the will of the electorate .
He assured the electorate that the combined security team of Nigeria Army ,police , immigration and DSS would not give room to any form of violence on the day of the Election as voters would be allowed to exercise their franchise without fear.
The Commissioner charged all critical stakeholders in the electoral process to maintain neutrality and eschew acts capable of creating rancour and acrimony in the state which was adjuded to be the most peaceful state in the country.
