Osun State government has assured residents of the state of its readiness to rehabilitate roads in towns and villages across the state.
This is coming on the heels of allegations of neglect by the residents of Iba in Ifelodun local government area of Osun State.
Speaking on the development,The director of highways, Osun State Ministry of works,Engineer Moruf Ojebode said Osun State government was keen in infrastructural transformation of the state.
Engineer Ojebode noted that any ongoing projects embarked upon by the present administration was aimed at transforming and position the state for economic turnaround.
It would be recalled that the residents of Iba in Ifelodun local government area of Osun state had alleged neglect of its roads for more than a decade.
Residents recalled that during his campaign ahead of the 2022 governorship election, Governor Adeleke entered Iba through Iree and left for Obaagun using the same bad roads. They expressed disappointment that the roads remain in the same condition as he now campaigns for a second term.
“The governor came to Iba in 2022 through Iree with bad road, and he left to Obaagun with bad road,” a community leader said. “Unfortunately, the roads are still bad today that he is seeking re-election, and he could not even enter the town.”
The Inisa-Iba road, the only major project that could have eased access to Iba, was started by the Adeleke administration but was left halfway, according to residents. They said the incomplete project has worsened the isolation of the town.
Some residents have appealed to the state government to prioritize the completion of the Inisa-Iba road and the rehabilitation of the Iree-Iba and Obaagun-Iba roads, saying the poor road network continues to affect commerce, healthcare delivery, and movement of people.
