The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Olorunda Local Government Area of Osun State on Monday staged a massive 'Walk to Win' rally in support of its governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), as the party intensified grassroots mobilisation ahead of the August 15, 2026 governorship election.
The rally, which attracted hundreds of party faithful, supporters, market women, artisans, youth groups and community leaders, saw participants marched through major streets in Osogbo, declaring their readiness to deliver Olorunda Local Government for the APC and its candidate at the forthcoming poll.
Party leaders described the exercise as a demonstration of the party's growing strength and confidence in Oyebamiji's chances of winning the election.
Speaking during the rally, the Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Protocol, Ambassador Issah Niniola, said the turnout reflected the party's expanding grassroots support, noting that the APC had successfully reached key stakeholders across the local government.
He said that the rally formed part of a series of campaign activities, including stakeholders' engagements, town hall meetings and wider sensitisation programmes aimed at consolidating support for the party before election day.
According to him, residents of Olorunda Local Government are firmly behind the APC and will vote en masse for Oyebamiji in the August 15 election.
"This event speaks for itself. As you can see, we have improved over time in terms of our mobilisation, and we have reached out to all the stakeholders, particularly the market women. We have also reached out to artisans, who are important stakeholders in the political system, and they are all for us", Niniola stated.
Also speaking, the Executive Chairman of Olorunda Local Government, Kunle Ikudaisi, described the 'Walk to Win' as a deliberate mobilisation strategy designed to create awareness and rally support for the APC candidate
Ikudaisi maintained that Olorunda and other councils in Osogbo remained strongholds of progressive politics, expressing optimism that the APC would record an overwhelming victory.
He disclosed that the party had intensified its campaign through door-to-door and community-to-community mobilisation to ensure voters remained alert and participated actively in the election.
Ikudaisi said, "This arrangement is deliberate, purposely for the AMBO election. Definitely, we are mobilising people to create awareness in our community that something great is going to happen that will help us tremendously in the election come August 15.
"We are doing this to gather more people. We have never lost any election, except the 2022 one, and there is a reason for that. This time around, it is going to be an overwhelming victory for us by the grace of God,'' he said.
Corroborating the gesture, former Osun State Commissioner for Environment, Hon. Sola Oladepo, said the rally was organised to demonstrate the party's readiness for the governorship election.
He noted that all districts in Olorunda had been mobilised to participate in the exercise, urging residents to vote for Oyebamiji whom he described as a candidate capable of making meaningful impact in Osun State.
"This is the Walk for Victory of AMBO. This is a special edition by Olorunda Local Government and we want to show our strength that we are fully ready for the election. We are ready as a party, from the wards to the units and communities.
"We should keep ourselves ready for this election, vote out the current governor and vote in AMBO a governor that will have meaning and make an impact in Osun," he added.
In the same vein, former Deputy Speaker, Hon. Taiwo Sunmonu, former Special Adviser on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Rasaki Adeosun, Executive Chairperson, Olorunda Area Council, Hon. Felicia Omolaoye, APC House of Representatives, Osogbo Federal Constituency, Hon. Ibrahim Taofeek Kayode, APC House of Assembly, Olorunda State Constituency, Hon. Sanusi Sesan, Executive Chairman, Olorunda Local Council Development Area, Ota-Efun, Hon. Muhammad Kazeem Gasali among others expressed confidence in the emergence of the party flag-bearer Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji AMBO in the forthcoming August 15th, 2026 gubernatorial election.
