The management of Osun State University, UNIOSUN, has announced a temporary closure of its Ifetedo Campus following the death of a 400-level student of Criminology and Security Studies, Miss Grace Osunlakin.
The Public Relations Officer of the institution ,Mr.Ademola Adesoji disclosed this in a statement made available to Newsmen.
The University expressed profound sadness over the student’s demise and extended condolences to her family, fellow students and all stakeholders impacted by the incident.
According to the statement, “Osunlakin reportedly died on Wednesday, 24 June 2026, prompting the university authorities to review the situation and take immediate measures aimed at maintaining calm on the campus.”
It stated that the temporary break would also provide an opportunity for a comprehensive assessment of healthcare facilities, medical personnel and water supply systems within the Ifetedo Campus.
The Management assured the public that a thorough review of the circumstances surrounding the incident would be conducted and appropriate measures would be implemented to prevent a recurrence.
The statement reiterated the resolve of the institution to remain committed to ensuring the safety, welfare and well-being of members of the university community.
