Network of Civil Society Groups in Osun State has expressed displeasure about the worsening politically motivated violence across the State.
Addressing Newsmen in Osogbo onbehalf of the group, Mr. Demola Yaya said there is the urgent need to restructure the State Police Command to achieve a credibile, transparent and peaceful poll come 15th August governorship election.
Mr. Yaya who noted that Residents of the state have lost confidence in the state police command, threatened to embark on protest if the police failed to contain further political violence.
He called for the urgent need for the redeployment of the Osun Commissioner of Police, Mr Ibrahim Gotan, accusing him of being partisan and fueling violence in the state.
Mr. Yaya expressed concerns that since the last public demonstration of the CSOs, which demanded for Mr. Gotan’s removal, Osun has witnessed worse incidents of killings and violent attacks and the Command failed to make any arrest.
Also speaking one of the leaders of the CSOs, Mr Emmanuel Olowu who frowned at the worsening attacks, maintained that if not checkmated, would pave way for rigging of the forthcoming gubernatorial contest in the state.
Mr. Olowu added that civil societies have issued the Inspector General of Police,Mr. Olatunji Disu 72 hours to restructure Osun State Police Command, else the activists would mobilise citizens for a protest that would linger till the election day.
