Ahead of the forthcoming governorship election in Osun State, the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has taken a swipe at the state leadership of the Accord Party under which the outgoing incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke is seeking re-election for spreading falsehoods and fabricated information in order to misinform the good people of the state.
It would be recalled that the state chairman of the party, Pastor Victor Akande, issued a frivolous statement few hours ago, accusing the state leader of the APC who doubles as the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, of planning to rig the 15th August, 2026 governorship election with the connivance of the State Resident Electoral Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC).
Akande went further to state among other things that: "Osun state chapter of the Accord has got a wind of the secret meeting held by Osun chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) where its leadership caucus resolved to direct the Osun Resident Electoral Commissioner, to effect selective removal of Accord members from voters’ register.
"The secret meeting was held at the Ileri Oluwa campaign office of the party on Wednesday with the nomination of a three man committee to liaise with Osun INEC office to effect the disenfranchisement plan.
"Reports from the meeting revealed that the evil agenda is to remove a minimum of 75 accord members from each polling unit and 25 APC members to make the mutilation of the register random and more like a technical glitch", the Accord Party chairman alleged.
It is high time the Accord Party chairman who is a pastor freed himself from the defeatist spirit which has snowballed into paranoia engendered by the fear of the imminent loss of the governorship election of his favoured candidate who has utterly disappointed the people of the state for lack of fulfilled campaign promises.
Fabrication of falsehoods against the state leader of our party who is the immediate-past governor of the state by Akande, his governorship candidate and their ilk at this material time when they are expected to be campaigning vigorously in the nooks and crannies of the state will not convey any special electoral advantage on their candidate.
It is absolute false that Alhaji Oyetola held a meeting with any of the staff of the INEC, let alone giving any instruction(s) to the Resident Electoral Commissioner, as conjectured by the state chapter of the Accord Party which is the figment of his imagination.
The democracy-loving people of the state deserve a rest from the needless laying of foundation by the visibly fearful supposed man of God based on his title, for the imminent failure of Candidate Adeleke in the forthcoming governorship election.
Our governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji AMBO, is going into the election to win as a serious candidate who, all along, has been burning, the night candle when his opponent was busy wining and dining, dancing and chasing non-existing foreign investors from all the corners of the world.
The right-thinking members of the society, the ever-loyal members and supporters of our party should discountenance the fabricated election-rigging story of the day-dreaming Accord Party chairman, and continue their constitutional efforts of ensuring that the incumbent Governor Adeleke is sent packing from the Oke-fia Government House via the 15th August, 2026 governorship election.
