The lowa Adimula of Ile Ife ,Oba Abraham Adekola has canvassed constitutional roles for traditional rulers to change the face of governance in the country.
Oba Adekola who stated this in a chat with IDTV Crew in Ile Ife said traditional rulers had better understanding of the yearnings and aspirations of their subjects.
Oba Adekola faulted recruitment process of traditional rulers in Yoruba land ,saying for a person to qualify for the position of monarch such a person must understand culture and traditions of his community.
He said most of those who were appointed in recent time as monarchs were not prepared for the throne as their actions and behavior negates standards demanded of a traditional rulers
The monarch however emphasized the need for political actors to play according to the rules as the state prepare for August 15th Governorship Election.
He urged politicians to desist from any acts that could lead to rancour and acrimony before,during and after the election.
The traditional ruler who just celebrated his 71st birthday gave glory to Almighty God for the gift of Allah attributed his success story to the support of the late Ooni of Ife,Oba Sijuade Okunade and the current Monarch,Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi.
He said his life was full of up and down ,saying the rest his now story as he could now see the hand of God in all his dealings and ways.
Oba Adekola called on youth to develop sense of perseverance,hand work , commitment and dedication for them to live a life of history rather than quick wealth that would not give them identity.
