Nigerians have been urged to support the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to enable him consolidate and complete his ongoing economic reform programmes aimed at placing Nigeria on the path of economic recovery and prosperity.
The former governorship candidate of the Boot Party in the last Osun State governorship election, Prince Adesoji Adeleke Masilo, made the call while featuring on Impact Digital Television (IDTV), Osogbo's personality interview programme, The Dialogue.
Prince Masilo said President Tinubu had positioned the country for economic prosperity, hence the need for Nigerians to support his re-election to further pave the way for sustainable socio-economic development.
According to him, the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) programme introduced by the Federal Government has assisted many parents who could not afford to finance higher education for their children.
He said the initiative would go a long way in reducing school dropout rates and further transforming the education sector.
Prince Masilo also noted that President Tinubu had demonstrated capacity in the last three and a half years, adding that his economic reforms had assisted state governments in addressing the challenges of monthly debt obligations and persistent borrowing to pay workers' salaries, saying the removal of fuel subsidy had also improved the financial standing of many state governments.
Speaking on the recently concluded Osun State governorship election, Prince Masilo commended all critical stakeholders who played one role or another in ensuring the success of the exercise, describing the election as one generally accepted by the people of the state.
He urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to sustain the momentum and ensure that the forthcoming general elections are free, fair, credible and devoid of rancour and acrimony.
The former governorship candidate also described attempts by some political parties to approach the tribunal as unnecessary, maintaining that the poll was, to a large extent, adjudged free and fair.
He, however, acknowledged that it was within the constitutional rights of aggrieved parties to challenge the outcome of the election if they were dissatisfied.Prince Masilo cautioned that such legal actions could amount to a waste of time and resources if not properly considered.
He called on residents of Osun State to remain peaceful throughout the process leading to the forthcoming general elections, stressing that desperation, harassment, provocation and intimidation can never determine electoral victory.
