The Olowu of Kuta ,Oba Oyelude Makama Tegbosun III has urged traditional rulers to maintain neutrality in the forthcoming governorship Election in the state.
Oba Makama who stated this while receiving peace Committee setup by Kinpact development initiative in his palace said traditional institution should be opened to all political actors as their fathers not as partisans players.
The foremost Traditional ruler noted that his palace was opened to all political parties,saying traditional rulers should be pro establishment and shun any acts and utterances that would exposed them to political biase .
The monarch who called on political actors not to see election as a do or die affairs noted that politics should be played in line with electoral guidelines and stop creating unnecessary tension which could lead to rancour and acrimony in the state.
He urged critical stakeholders in the electoral process to maintain neutrality and give all political parties a level playing ground to operate and allow electorates to exercise their franchise.
"There is a need for all the stakeholders including INEC, security agencies, Civil societies ,Observers and Media to be just to all political parties and stop a acts that could suggest biase in their activities and operations'
He commended the Kinpact development initiative for setting up the peace committee,saying their advocacy was timely and necessary at this particular time owing to the high level of assault , attack and killings in the build up to the election.
The monarch decried killings as he noted that no blood of human being worth political ambition of any politician saying desperation of some political actors was dangerous for the nation's democracy.
He called for peaceful Election as he urged some residents who indulged in dishing out misinformation to stop the act during the forthcoming Election as misinformation was capable of causing political violence in the state.
Oba Makama charged electorates to troupe out in their thousands to exercise their franchise without fear, saying security would be on ground to protect the electorates and their votes
In a remark,The orangun Oke ila Oba Adedokun Abolarin said the peace committee was in the palace of Olowu kuta to seek the support of traditional rulers in their propagation of peace before ,during and after the Election.
Oba Abolarin who was the chairman of the Committee emphasized the need for the residents of the state to ensure peaceful conduct, maintained that no meaningful development could take place in the atmosphere of rancour and acrimony.
Represented by the Secretary of the Committee,Mr Dare Adeoye noted that the committee had visited some major critical stakeholders in the electoral process to educate them on the need to give room for peace and tranquility during the poll.
