The Osun State Pilgrims performing the 2026 Hajj exercise in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, on Tuesday concluded visitation (Ziyara), to historical sites in Madina.
The pilgrims who have visited places like Quba mosque,Mount Uhud,Al-Shohada' s mosque among other sites which are very significant to the Muslims.
Quba mosque has a special and unique place in the hearts of Muslims due to its association with the prophet Muhammed (Peace be upon him),as it is the first mosque ever built.It is also known to be the second largest and prominent mosque in Madina after the Prophet’s Mosque(Masjid Nabiyy)
Also Qiblatain (Mosque of the Two Qiblas’), also spelt Masjid al-Qiblatain, is a mosque in Medina believed by Muslims to be the place where the final Islamic prophet, Muhammad, received the command to change the Qibla (direction of prayer) from Jerusalem to Mecca.
In addition Uhud was the site of the second battle between the Islamic prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him), and the polytheists of his tribe of Quraysh.The Battle of Uhud was fought on 19 March, 625 CE, between a force from the small(300)Muslim community led by Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) in Medina and 30,000 force(Quraysh) from Mecca,in north-western Arabia.
The IDTV Executive Director,Wasiu Ajadosu who is part of Osun contingent reports that the pilgrims are expected to continue with other activities in the Holy land of Saudi Arabia.
