The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner in Osun State, Mrs Oluwatoyin Babalola has assured electorates in Osun State of credible election in August 15th governorship Election in the state.
Mrs Babalola gave the assurance in a chat with Journalists in Osogbo said all critical stakeholders including Media must support the commission to achieve the feat.
She urged media to support the commission in creating awareness on voters education and also to raise their consciousness to participate in the election.
"I want to thanks media community in Osun state, for your unwavering professionalism in the dissemination of electoral information as your commitment accuracy and balancing reportage has significantly contributed to the to the deepening of democratic values and strategic public trust in the electoral process. "
"We particularly commend your efforts in educating the electorate or the nitgratity of the electoral process. Through your various platforms, you have consistently provide citizens the knowledge required to participate meaningfully in elections. This role is not only commendable, but it is indispensable to the success of our early democratic exercise.
"From the first second and devolution, 381,817, fresh registration, out of which we have 1391 persons living with disability. We had people that transferred their registration from one place to the other and for people that had one update or the other. What I mean by update is correcting name, location changed, I've lost my card. My name has changed. All those updates, we have 7272.
"Also lost by damage card we have 42,255 and people. And people also ask for reviews, which is 14,362. For PVC collection. Just 1865 turned up for PVC collection. So in total, we have retreated 499,809 applications. This was achieved with your confession and support in the media space through securitization and voter education.
Mrs Babalola added that all necessary arrangement had been put in place to en to deliver an election that reflects the will of the people in the state.
