The Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adewale Egbedun, has declared that Governor Ademola Adeleke will secure a landslide victory in the forthcoming gubernatorial election, citing his administration’s record of achievements.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Olamide Tiamiyu, Egbedun made this assertion during a defection rally held in Inisa, where more than 500 members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), led by Aare Kazeem Abdulrasheed popularly known as Itakure, officially joined the Accord Party.
Addressing the gathering, Egbedun expressed confidence in Adeleke’s chances at the polls, stating: “The record of success and achievement will speak for Governor Adeleke, and by August 15th, he will win by a landslide.”
He welcomed the defectors into the Accord fold and urged existing party members to embrace them fully, adding, “I want to sincerely welcome our brothers and sisters who have decided to join us today. I also admonish our party faithful to accommodate them and work together for the progress of our state.“
Egbedun further reassured the electorate of the integrity of the voting process, insisting that their votes would count.
He also cautioned against intimidation, urging residents to disregard any threats allegedly coming from the APC.
“You should discredit any threats; your votes will count, and your voices will be heard,” he added.
The Speaker also called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to remain impartial and uphold its responsibility to the public.
“INEC must conduct itself as a truly public institution and ensure a free, fair and credible election in Osun State,” he said.
Speaking on behalf of the defectors, President of Olorunsogo Dealers Association Hon. Kazeem Abdulrasheed (Itakure) a former local executive member of the APC explained that their decision to leave the APC was driven by dissatisfaction with the party’s internal structure.
Itakure who said he was motivated by the leadership of Adewale Egbedun and the good work of Sen. Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, said: “We left the APC because it has become a sole proprietorship party, solely controlled by a man whose administration destroyed the state.“
Also speaking at the event, Alhaji Abdulrasaq known as Alhaji KK advised those who were trying to distract Governor Adeleke to desist or face the full wrath of God.
The rally marked a significant political development in Odo - Otin as the Accord Party continues to strengthen its ranks ahead of the forthcoming election.
Other defectors are Mrs Abdulrasheed Fausat, Owolabi Taiye aka Action, Mr Lawrence etc
Present at the defection rally are the Honourable Commissioner for Home Affairs, Hon. Abdulrasheed Aderebigbe (Asendo), the Executive Chairman of Odo Otin Local Government, Hon. Adewale Adeyinka and all his executive members, Alhaji Taiye, Chairman Odo Otin PDP, Hon. Ibrahim Dende, Hon. Abol, the Odo Otin Leaders led by Iya mi Leko among others.
